Structural engineering services for a 36,791 sq. ft. renovation to the existing elementary school, a 22,198 sq. ft. renovation to the existing adjacent office building, and a 10,904 sq. ft. new connecting structure to link the two existing buildings (69,823 total sq. ft.). Both existing structures date to the early 1900’s. Structural renovation work consisted of cutting new openings in existing bearing walls, supporting new mechanical units, and removing several bearing walls. The new connecting structure consists of structural steel framing and composite concrete slabs. Design also included a new platform (stage) addition to the existing multi-purpose room, consisting of long-span joists and CMU bearing walls.
