Laurel, Maryland

Structural engineering services for a three-story, 78,000 sq. ft. high school building.  The structure has steel and composite concrete slab framed floors with reinforced CMU shear walls at the stair towers to resist lateral forces.  The floor structures were designed to mitigate vibration propagation caused by walking impact loads.  In addition to three levels of classroom and media center space, an adjacent one-story gymnasium structure was designed with long-span roof joists to accommodate basketball nets.
