Holbert Apple Associates provided structural engineering services for this new 144,338 square foot, eight-story parking garage. The design utilizes long span precast double tees and spandrel panels, supported on cast-in-place concrete foundation walls and footings. Portions of the foundation walls were designed to function as approximately 20 foot tall cantilevered retaining walls, due to the sloped site conditions. An efficient, switch-back design with enclosed elevator and stair towers allowed the garage to fit into a very tight site adjacent to a newly renovated medical office building for Kaiser Permanente. The project was delivered via design/build and the close coordination of the design and construction teams during the schematic design phase allowed for significant cost and schedule savings.
