Bridgeport, West Virginia
The new four-story, 80,000 gross square foot, office building is located on a sloping site in a new suburban office park. The building is a “build to suit” for a law firm and, thus, includes conferencing facilities, extensive floor depressions for ungraded finishes, a “monumental” tenant stair, and extensive high-density file areas.
The structure consists of composite structural framing with chevron and x-braced frames to resist lateral loads. Due to the sloping site and presence of existing deep, poor quality fills on one side of the site, foundations consist of a mix of traditional spread footings and drilled pier foundations. A structured ground floor slab is provided above the deep existing fill which occurs under approximately 40% of the building.
