Located only a few miles from Nationals Park, the Washington Nationals Youth Baseball Academy is on a nine-acre campus. The facility includes three Astroturf fields with dugouts, seating and retaining walls designed to accommodate baseball and softball competition from youth through college-level play. Additionally, it includes a state-of-the-art 18,000 square foot, two-story educational clubhouse with classrooms, office space, meeting rooms, a teaching kitchen, and an indoor training facility. The structure is steel framed with long-span roof joists and composite beams to accommodate the indoor training facility. The lateral resisting system consists of reinforced CMU shear walls with special detailing to frame into the structural steel. The building received LEED Silver rating upon completion.
